The Command to Forget

Here’s the command:

“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, FORGETTING those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14

Are there some things you need to forget?

Are there sins you committed somewhere – anywhere – in your past that you have already asked the Father to forgive and yet, you find it hard to get that remorse, guilt, and shame from your conscience?

Fret not. The LORD’s salvation is full and complete. His blood paid for your redemption, forgiveness, and the clearing of your conscience!

Become intimately familiar with the following two verses of Holy Scripture. Write them down on an index card and begin memorizing and meditating upon them.

“How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” Hebrews 9:14

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9

The LORD wants you to have a clear conscience beloved saint. I know what it is to sin after being saved too friend, but God didn’t stop loving you. He didn’t stop being there to forgive you, cleanse you, restore, and re-establish you (Psalms 86:5, 15; Hebrews 4:14-16). The LORD is the God of restoration (Ezekiel 36:36; Luke 15).

“Now the end (chief purpose) of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:” 1 Timothy 1:5

Pray this: Heavenly Father, thank You so much for sending Your only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Thank You Jesus for coming, dying, shedding Your precious blood, being buried, and raised from the dead! I love You my LORD Jesus and thank You for finding and saving me by Your merit alone. I freshly announce from my heart and lips this moment, that I am not, never was, and never will be worthy of Your blessed forgiveness and cleansing. Yet, I know You love me and paid with Your own blood to redeem, forgive, and cleanse my conscience. I now deliberately obey You Father, and with Your holy grace and power working in me, I forget my past and receive Your blessed cleansing all the way to the depth and innermost part of my conscience. Right this moment, may Your holy, precious, and sinless blood be applied to my life, my conscience, my heart, and my mind right now. In Jesus’ holy name. Amen!
